Cordova - Icy Cape Mining Project and Timber Harvest Public Informational Meeting

Representatives from the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority (Trust) and the Trust Land Office (TLO) will provide an update on the Icy Cape Gold and Industrial Heavy Minerals Project as well as timber harvest operations.

The Trust’s Icy Cape land block, about 145 miles from Cordova, contains significant prospects of gold and industrial heavy minerals, as well as timber resources.

This summer, the TLO continued exploratory work in ongoing efforts to determine the potential for mineral development of this project. In addition, timber resources were harvested and shipped from Icy Cape.

Revenue from timber sales and, if developed, the mineral project would be used to fund Trust programs that serve Alaska’s most vulnerable populations including people with mental illness, developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia, traumatic brain injuries and substance abuse disorders.
