ALASKA MENTAL HEALTH TRUST AUTHORITY ANNOUNCES NEW CEO

ANCHORAGE, Alaska —The Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Mary Wilson as the organization’s Chief Executive Officer. Trustees officially named Wilson as CEO at a special board meeting held on January 21, 2025.

Wilson originally worked as a licensed pediatrician before advancing into multiple senior leadership positions within Permanente Medical Group, including Executive Medical Director and President of The Southeast Permanente Medical Group in Atlanta. Wilson brings to the Trust extensive executive experience coupled with a thorough understanding of the systems of care that serve and support Trust beneficiaries. Wilson grew up in Alaska and, in recent years, returned to the state following her medical career.

As CEO, Wilson will oversee the organization and work with the board to accomplish the Trust’s mission and vision and ensure that the Trust is accountable to its beneficiaries. It is the duty of the Trust to provide leadership in the advocacy, planning, implementing, and funding of services and programs for Trust beneficiaries, and the Trust grants approximately $25 million a year to beneficiary-serving organizations.

“On behalf of the board, I’m very excited that Mary is joining our organization. Her leadership experience and knowledge of our healthcare system will be invaluable as our organization continues to strategically invest in projects and initiatives that lead to improved outcomes for vulnerable Alaskans,” said Brent Fisher, chair of the board of trustees.

“I am honored with the opportunity to lead an organization that has such a unique and important role in supporting Trust beneficiaries and the organizations that serve and support them,” said Wilson. “I look forward to working with the talented staff at the Trust Authority and the Trust Land Office who share my passion for improving the lives of Trust beneficiaries.”

CEO Wilson will begin her role on January 22, 2025, and will be based in Anchorage.
