(October 24, 2023) The Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority awarded $3,385,836 in grants to beneficiary-serving organizations in the first quarter of the fiscal year.
These grants to partners are a part of the Trust’s $20 million annual grant program supporting Alaskan organizations that serve and support Trust beneficiaries including nonprofits, service providers, Tribal entities, and state and local government agencies.
“With a mission to improve the outcomes of our beneficiaries, Alaskans who experience behavioral health conditions and developmental disabilities, the Trust works to deploy its resources to support partners who are working to serve and support these populations,” said Steve Williams, CEO of the Trust. “We are proud to be able to award grant funding to so many impactful projects and initiatives and are deeply grateful for the work of all our grantees to improve our system of care for vulnerable Alaskans.”
Trust grants are awarded for capacity building, direct service, outreach, planning, capital, and workforce initiatives, as well as in support of conferences, seminars and training to organizations that serve Trust beneficiaries. Many of the projects funded by the Trust also receive funding from the philanthropic community, private donations, earned revenue, and other community support. The total value of the projects supported with Trust grants this quarter is an estimated $28.8 million.
