The community of Haines is located at the northern end of Lynn Canal. It is approximately 80 air miles north from the central business district (CBD) of Juneau, the capitol of Alaska. It is south and east of the U.S. border with British Columbia, Canada. The Haines highway connects the community with the continental road system by means of the Haines Highway to Haines Junction where it connects to the Alaska Canadian Highway. It is one of the two terminus points for the Alaska Marine Highway at the upper end of Lynn Canal.
