The area is between the Shaw Creek Flats just north of the Big Delta and Eielson Air Force Base. Birch Lake is a popular area for recreation. The parcels, MHT 9400756 and 9400757 are near the Birch Lake State Recreation Site.

The shoreline is lined with recreational cabins and a few year-round homes. Birch Lake State Recreation Site is located on the east side of the lake. The recreation area features a boat launch facility, and picnic sites. There is fishing for lake trout, arctic char and burbot.

Vegetation on the parcel includes black spruce and birch trees.
